Wing Me to the Moon (Japanese: トニカクカワイイ, Hepburn: Tonikaku Kawaii , lit. "Adorable Anyways" or "Cute, No Matter What"), too known outside Japan as Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You , is a Japanese manga serial written and illustrated past Kenjiro Hata. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sun since February 2018. The story surrounds the teen genius Nasa Yuzaki and his developing relationship with his new wife, Tsukasa, who saves him in a auto accident at the beginning of the story. In North America, the manga is licensed by Viz Media. An anime boob tube series adaptation by Seven Arcs aired from Oct to December 2020 on Tokyo MX and other channels. A second season has been announced.

Premise [edit]

On a snowy winter nighttime, Nasa Yuzaki, a boy with a peculiar proper name, encounters a beautiful girl after he received his do exam grades for high school. When he tries to talk to her, he gets distracted by her beauty and gets hit by a truck. After the girl saves him, Nasa miraculously follows her at a motorbus stop and he confesses his dear for her. The daughter, Tsukasa Tsukuyomi, agrees to get his girlfriend, simply only if they are married first. When Nasa, who had previously decided to not become to loftier school in order to look for Tsukasa, reaches his 18th altogether, he is still thinking about the promise he made on that dark. Suddenly, Tsukasa shows up at his doorstep with a marriage form, starting their relationship and their marriage.

Nasa Yuzaki ( 由崎 星空 , Yuzaki Nasa[a] )

An everyday genius, Nasa grew upwardly ridiculed for his strange name, like to the American space agency NASA, although his parents meant for his name to reference the starry sky. He has a coming together with fate when he was caught in a terrible accident just was saved by Tsukasa. Declaring his love for her, on the day they met, Tsukasa agrees on the condition that he marries her to which Nasa immediately responded with an unshakable "yes". Two years afterward, Nasa reunites with Tsukasa conveying a spousal relationship form which they turn in to the bureau, legalizing their human relationship. Since marrying her, he becomes incredibly awkward around her, somewhat clingy to an extent because he is worried she would disappear on him again, but does his best to make her happy.

Later on saving Nasa, she agrees to his confession only if he will marry her. Disappearing for three years, she returns to Nasa's side with the paperwork necessary to legalize their relationship. During the early chapters, she makes a betoken of the legal name change she underwent upon becoming Nasa's spouse, initially teasing him with her now existence named Tsukasa Yuzaki. Later she marries Nasa, she begins showing new parts of herself, such equally her massive love for movies and manga. She also does not similar the idea of spending a lot of money for necessities. Later on, her thoughts while observing Nasa makes it clear she loves him for existence such a pure hearted, kind soul. When Tsukasa got to encounter Nasa's parents, his father privately thanked her for saving his life equally both gave their blessings to their newlywed life. Throughout the story, layers upon layers of mystery are laid upon her and there have been many comparisons of her similarities to Princess Kaguya. The mystery is finally resolved with the revelation that she is the daughter of a character from that story, given immortal life through the elixir of immortality which her father was ordered to burn.
Kaname Arisugawa ( 有栖川 要 , Arisugawa Kaname )

Nasa's junior and the primary caretaker of the Arisagawa public bathhouse, she is the most explicit supporter of Nasa's human relationship to the point where she educates both Nasa and Tsukasa in means of advancing their relationship as well as attempting to forcefully create situations with the same goal of human relationship advancement in mind.
Aya Arisugawa ( 有栖川 綾 , Arisugawa Aya )
Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka[7] (Japanese); Erika Harlacher[9] (English)
Nasa's classmate and a complete airhead, she has explicit feelings for Nasa. However, she understands the circumstances, fully supporting his relationship with Tsukasa.
Chitose Kaginoji ( 鍵ノ寺 千歳 , Kaginoji Chitose )
Voiced by: Konomi Kohara[7] (Japanese); Lizzie Freeman[10] (English)
An adopted relative of Tsukasa, whom she regards as her sister. She jealously disapproves of the marriage and orders her maids Aurora and Charlotte to discredit Nasa. Until learning of the marriage, she regarded Nasa much more kindly. Her actual relation to Tsukasa is non all the same clear, though both share a 1000 aunt, Tokiko.

Manga [edit]

Fly Me to the Moon is written and illustrated by Kenjiro Hata, the author of the manga series Hayate the Combat Butler. He had previously announced his desire to create a new series in November 2016.[15] Fly Me to the Moon started its serialization in the 2018 12th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Lord's day, with a two-chapter debut on February xiv, 2018.[xvi] [17] Shogakukan has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes, with the beginning one published on May 18, 2018.[18] With the release of its second volume on August 17, 2018, a teaser video was released for Fly Me to the Moon featuring Japanese musical group Earphones.[19] As of February 18, 2022, nineteen volumes have been published.[20]

In Feb 2020, Viz Media announced that they licensed the manga for an English release.[21] The get-go book was published on September 8, 2020.[22] Every bit of January eighteen, 2022, nine volumes take been released.[23]

A fanbook, titled Tonikaku Kawaii Kekkon Kingenshū ( トニカクカワイイ公式ファンブック 結婚金言集 ), was released on Dec 18, 2020.[24]

Anime [edit]

An anime television series accommodation was announced on March iv, 2020.[52] The series was produced by Seven Arcs and directed past Hiroshi Ikehata, with Kazuho Hyodo writing the scripts, Masakatsu Sasaki designing the characters, and Endō composing the music.[53] [5] It ran for 12 episodes from October iii to December 19, 2020 on Tokyo MX, ytv and BS-NTV.[54] [55] [b] Akari Kitō performed the opening theme "Koi no Uta (feat. Tsukasa Yuzaki)" ( 恋のうた(feat. 由崎司) , "Beloved Song (feat. Tsukasa Yuzaki)"), while KanoeRana performed the ending theme "Tsuki to Hoshizora" ( 月と星空 , "Moon and Starry Heaven").[7] [56]

Crunchyroll streamed the series in selective territories as role of its Crunchyroll Originals characterization.[57] In Southeast Asia, Plus Media Networks Asia has licensed the series and they aired it on Aniplus Asia.[58] On November 11, 2020, Crunchyroll announced that the series would receive an English dub, which premiered on November 20.[6]

On December nineteen, 2020, it was announced that the serial would receive an original video animation (OVA), which was released on August 18, 2021.[59] [60] On November half-dozen, 2021, information technology was appear that the series will take a new episode and a 2d season, with the staff and cast returning to reprise their respective roles.[61] The new episode, titled "Seifuku", will be streamed on Crunchyroll in Q3 2022.[62]

The manga had over 250,000 copies in circulation as of October 2018,[65] over 400,000 copies in circulation as of February 2019,[66] and over 1 1000000 copies in circulation as of October 2019.[67]

In 2019, Fly Me to the Moon was one of the winners of the fifth Next Manga Award in the Impress category.[68]
